Sunken Sunbeats
Stop motion animation with sound, 4.45 min
2019
A cast of mini-dictators, reluctant feminists made out of Orientalist postcards, my version of the Egyptian sky goddess Nout, who swallows and gives birth to the sun every 24 hours, come together in this liberation poem. The animation fluidly combines elements from ancient Egyptian mythology, anti-colonial struggle, and current politics to collapse simple notions of post-colonialism, through the artist’s feminist lens.
