Artificial Romance
This group of works came together in an installation called Artificial Romance. Using layered abstracted Orientalist images of so-called “harem women,” organic forms, and loose self-portraiture, the works alluded to the contradictions between exotic ideas about Egypt/Arabs and the ongoing militarization of the region.
