Fire-laced
8 x 13 ft painting, acrylic on canvas
2018-2019
Fire-laced combines figures that turn into land masses with overlaid red lines, transferred from maps of oil pipelines in North Africa and the Middle East. The crouching figure on the left becomes tree-like. Under her feet is the word “shame” in Arabic repeated and layered, like roots of the tree. She transforms the shame of being a victim of wars and occupations through her mythical body.
