Works > Community Process

My community process is aimed at discovering personal and collective narratives of history, dislocation, loss, and resilience. Working with specific immigrant groups, I often provide poetic prompts or open-ended questions to generate first hand written responses and expressive drawings. Like forming a collage, I edit and play with these responses to form a community-driven installation.

The roots of this work are in my background as a teaching artist and my founding of RASMI, an arts program to empower Arab and Muslim youth in Brooklyn through creative self-expression.
